Not at all. It’s totally waterproof and has several layers of fabric so debris does not get through.

Yes, my dog scratches on it like he's digging a hole, and no damage, very good quality, very durable. Also very soft.
If a cat throws up on this, will it stain? Is it machine washable?

It’s machine washable. I don’t know if it will get stained. I always use Nature’s Miracle on any mess my dogs make before I wash it and it gets rod of all stains.
